BTS will release their fifth studio album ARIRANG on March 20, followed by the BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE ARIRANG concert the next evening at Gwanghwamun Square. The group intends to walk through all three arched gates (hongyemun) of Gwanghwamun, proceeding past the palace s Woldae terrace platform before reaching the main stage set up on the northern end of the square. Police estimate that up to 260,000 people could converge on the area for the event. Ticket sales conducted on February 23 resulted in a near-instant sellout, with competition described as fierce among fans vying for spots.

In response to the anticipated crowd, the CHA announced the activation of its Palace Heritage Emergency Response Team, which will conduct intensive inspections at key access points including Yeongchumun, Gwanghwamun, and Geonchunmun gates.
