The announcement, made at the "Next on Netflix 2026 Korea" event held at the Conrad Hotel in Seoul's Yeouido district, underscores the streaming giant's deepening commitment to Korean storytelling as K-content continues to reign as the most-watched non-English content on the platform worldwide.

A Slate Built Around Five Emotional Pillars

The 2026 lineup is curated around five emotional experiences rooted in everyday life: romance, laughter, thrills, emotional depth, and genre-defying imagination. Netflix described the collection as promising "the joy of discovery" across multiple formats, reinforcing its long-standing partnership with Korea's creative industry while delivering stories to global audiences.

Among the most anticipated scripted offerings is Tantara, which pairs two of Korea's biggest stars — Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo — in a series set against the entertainment industry of the 1960s and 1980s. Written by Our Blues creator Noh Hee-gyoung and directed by Coffee Prince helmer Lee Yoon-jung, the project represents a reunion of top-tier creative talent that has already generated enormous buzz.

BLACKPINK's Jisoo headlines the romantic comedy Boyfriend on Demand, marking another high-profile acting venture for the K-pop idol-turned-actress. Meanwhile, award-winning actress Park Eun-bin teams up with Cha Eun-woo for The Wonderfools, a superhero drama that promises to blend genre elements with heart.

The thriller genre is well represented with Mousetrap, a chilling series about a reclusive novelist who hunts down a mysterious figure, and Notes from the Last Row, which explores a professor's obsessive fixation on a genius prodigy. Period drama fans can look forward to The Scandal, described as a daring love game set in the Joseon dynasty.

Films and Unscripted Content

On the film front, Netflix spotlighted four features: Pavane, a romantic drama directed by Lee Jong-pil; Husbands In Action, an action-comedy by Park Gyu-tae; the action sequel Mission: Cross 2 from director Lee Myung-hoon; and perhaps most notably, Possible Love by acclaimed filmmaker Lee Chang-dong, the director behind the Cannes award-winning Burning.
