PLAVE Celebrates 3rd Debut Anniversary With Special Live Broadcast Across 30 CGV Theaters
Virtual idol group marks milestone with 120-minute cinema fan meeting, capping a year of record-breaking achievements

Virtual idol group PLAVE is gearing up for a milestone celebration as they mark their third debut anniversary with a special live broadcast event on March 12. The 120-minute event, titled "PLAVE 3RD ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL LIVE," will be simulcast across approximately 30 CGV theater locations throughout South Korea, offering fans a unique cinema-based fan meeting experience.
The live broadcast will feature PLAVE's signature performances along with various interactive segments designed specifically for the theater setting. Participating venues include CGV Gangnam, Gwangju Geumnamro, Daegu, Daejeon Terminal, Seomyeon, Centum City, Yongsan I'Park Mall, Ulsan Samsan, Incheon, Jeonju Hyoja, Changwon The City, Cheonan Pentaport, and Cheongju Seomun, among others.
Special Perks for Attendees
All attendees will receive a special handwritten-print postcard as a commemorative gift. Ticket reservations opened on March 5 through the CGV mobile app, with additional details available on the app's event page. CJ CGV's content operations team leader Jeon Jeong-hyun expressed enthusiasm about the event, noting that the company aims to deliver the atmosphere of a live performance through large screens and immersive surround sound, creating a shared experience for fans gathered in one space.
A Year of Record-Breaking Achievements
The anniversary celebration comes on the heels of an extraordinary period for the five-member virtual boy group. PLAVE recently completed an unprecedented eight-month sweep of all categories in the ASEA 2026 (Asia Star Entertainer Awards) monthly voting, clinching the final February round with a dramatic comeback. The group secured 36.31 percent of the vote in the "Group of the Month" category, edging out BTS at 30.18 percent, followed by Stray Kids, TXT, and ENHYPEN.
The group's commercial success has been equally impressive. Their third mini album and second single album each surpassed the one-million-copy mark last year, achieving double million-seller status with sales of 1.03 million and 1.09 million copies respectively. Their debut Asia tour saw all three days at KSPO Dome sell out completely, with encore concerts at Gocheok Sky Dome also reaching full capacity over two days.
Fan Frenzy Ahead of Anniversary
Anticipation for the anniversary has already reached fever pitch. An exclusive interview with PLAVE members Noah, Yejun, Bamby, Eunho, and Hamin in the March issue of children's magazine Sisa Wonjeongdae sparked a purchasing frenzy, with initial pre-order allocations selling out instantly on major platforms including Kyobo Bookstore, Yes24, and Aladin. The demand extended internationally, with dedicated purchasing channels set up for fans in the United States, Japan, and China.
The interview revealed insights into PLAVE's creative process, with fans particularly moved by the group's hands-on approach to songwriting, composing, and choreography — earning them the nickname "self-produced idols." Member Bamby shared how the choreography for one song was built entirely around the concept of a single word, while Eunho discussed how the group constantly asks themselves whether their lyrics truly reflect what they want to say.
Building on Recent Momentum
PLAVE most recently captured hearts with the title track "BBUU!" from their second single album "PLBBUU." CGV previously partnered with PLAVE for a live broadcast of their first Asia tour concert in Seoul last August, making this anniversary event a continuation of their successful collaboration in bringing virtual performances to the big screen. As the group enters its fourth year, the unprecedented fan loyalty and commercial achievements suggest PLAVE's influence in the K-pop landscape continues to grow at a remarkable pace.
